How Do You Curl Kinkys Without Rollers?
I Have Kinky Twist And I Want To Curl Them But I Dont Have Rollers How Do You Go About Doing It Without The Rollors

Steve answers:
Do you have any flexi rods
you can use those
also try bantu knots by just taking a small group of twist and twist (it whole, not like you are trying to do plats or braids) all of them till they form one twist and twist it around and around like a tight bun. You can have how ever many sections you want but of course the lesser, the samaller the curls if youdon'tt get this look it up on youtube!

Going Natural...without the big chop??
So for the past few days I have been researching about transitioning to natural hair and I have read A LOT of articles and seen A LOT of videos of people who do the BC (or big chop). I do not want to do this, so I was wondering how I could possibly prevent the breakage that may occur during the coming months of my tranistion to natural hair?? I was thinking of getting kinky twists, but i have read they mess up your hair line... And if any one has any advice that would help I'd appreciate it!!
P.S. my last relaxer was sometime in MARCH of this year...in case anyone wanted to know...

Steve answers:
I'm also going natural! And im also scared of choppin all mi hair off...with me...basically what ive been doing for the past months is getting braids....they're easy to maintain and allow your hair to go and plus plus they're cute n versatile....it really depends on who does your twists, braids etc whether or not it takes your hair out...keep your hair moisturized and PLEASE dont murder it with heat...hope i was helpful...
N mi last relaxer was in Feb.

Not good don't pull your hair first.

Maria asks…
What should I do about my unruly hair?
I have been using relaxers, on my hair, for as long as I can remember and I decided to go natural 4 month ago. Now my hair has grown three inches and is thick, very hard to comb, and unruly. Every morning I wake up thinking about how my hair is matted in the back , since I usually lay on my back when I sleep. I comb my hair every morning so it doesn't get extremely tangled, and I wash my hair twice every week so that is doesn't become itchy. I am starting to really hate my hair. It is so bad that when I used a metal pick, once, a tooth broke off. What should I do? I really want to keep my hair natural but its so much easier to manage when its relaxed.
Cant get corn rows because It hurts when I get them and I don't like the look. I also cant get kinky twist or weave in my hair because my hair will start break off, No matter how loose they are or who takes them off.

Steve answers:
Get a satin pillow case or wrap your hair when you sleep. You need to use a conditioner and leave it in your hair...go to your local hair place and see what they recommend you trying...

Helen asks…
Did you do your own big chop?
I have been transitioning from relaxed to natural hair for 6 months. I have kinky twists in now to help manage the two textures but would love to chop off the relaxed ends in a couple months when I take out the twists. So my questions is, did you do the chop and how or did you go to a barber shop to chop?

Steve answers:
Lol sometimes yes!
They look so much better chopped.

Lizzie asks…
Do Wash N Go hair styles help hair growth?
Right now I have in kinky twist. But I want to let my hiar rest all summer. I was thinkking about getting a Wash N go hair style. If I continue to do Wash N go hiar style and get my ends cut will my hair grow longer by the end of the summer. Also how long does a Wash N Go hiarstyle last?
By the way my hair is natural and coarse.

Steve answers:
There arent really styles to make your hair grow. Wash n go styles are quick and easy. They can last 2 or 3 days depending on which poducts you use and how much of it. Chck out youtube for some ideas

Nancy asks…

How long will it take to do kinky twist?
Hello,
I can do about one (long) two strand twist in about a minute to 1 and a half minutes. I was trying to figure out how long the twist will take by figuring out how many twist will be done. They are small to medium in size (one strand of Marley per twist). Around how many total twist do you guys usually do on an average head of hair? I was thinking about 100 twist? I know there are alot of variable factors but I just need a ballpark idea. Thanks!
Oh, It is on an 11 year old girl with 4a medium density hair ( I think). Her head is not very large and I want her to have fairly thick hair.

Steve answers:
Her hair sounds similar to mine. It takes my mom about 3-4 hours to finish my kinky twists.

Mark asks…
Kinky Twist?
How long does your hair have to be to have a kinky twist? It is getting hot outside and I don't feel like doing my hair every single day especially when the weather may take a toll on my hair.
I am talking about linking
my own hair to hair weave to create a kinky twist.

Steve answers:
Your hair doesnt have to be that long to get kinky twist. All you need is someone who can grip it.
And i agree.
Watch ya edges!

Maria asks…

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkiKJtig5kZ4hPVoFnvnM.Hsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20081214123057AA6taHU

Steve answers:
Your twist probably will be ready to come out in about 2 weeks, if you are applying all of these products. The fertilizer is to thick, the janet collection is the best when it comes to the synthetic hair, it does not look as dry.

Kinky Twist?
Ok I do hair and I learned how to do kinky twist a while back I understand the technique and everything but I would like to know how do you get the ends of the hair curly? I tried doing it with the curling irons but that kinda worked but it didnt. So I really want to know a easier way to do it. So can someone please help me

Steve answers:
Hey, to get the end of the ends of the hair curly, all you have to do is to pick a little of the ends and braid to the tip. Braid the whole ends to be like box braids and then get boiled hot water and dip each box braid in the water. The water has to come to a boil or else it will not shrink to curls.

Lisa asks…
Kinky twist!!!!!!?
can someone give me detailed instructions on how to do a kinky twist (extensions)

Steve answers:
It starts off with a braid maybe like 4 times and then you separate the three peices into two and start twisting. Make sure you twist as far as possible. To keep the hair in at the ends, use hot water that the ends. It will curl the hair and keep it from coming a loose.

Maria asks…
Kinky twist?
How do u do kinky twist i would like to have kinky twist in my hair but how to do put hem in i need to know how big is they suppose to be how t start how to make the ends stay in with out falling out plz tell me everything about putting them and have them looking like a professional did iit and how to keep them in thank u

Steve answers:
Use some kinky hair (kankelon). Part your head and braid the hair into your natural hair. Then twist the rest. It will stay once it is twisted. Once you are done you roll up the ends or braid the ends together and dip them in hot water. Voila a head full of beautiful kinky twists.

Richard asks…
Kinky Twist How-to???!!!(the african technique)?
Ok so currently I am on spring break. And i have wanted to do kinky twist for a while. But never had the time or know how. When I say kinky twist I mean with the extensions. Not my own hair. Those are called two strand twist. I want to do mine like the africans do them. Please Help Me. Serious answers only!
Thanks for the input. But youtube was the very first place I went to. They did not have what i was looking for. I already know everything basically. Like what hair to use and the twisting method how to curl the ends. What I don't know is how to section the hair when your about to braid it on. This is a very discreet technique that isn't shown on youtube. Thats why I came here to get some info. If you take a look at the non-professionals and then look at how the africans do it. You'll see what I mean.

Steve answers:
First buy 'Marley' brand hair or/and 'Kinky' style type hair at the local beauty supply store. Then wash your hair and let it dry (washing the braids early tends to be a pain) then pull the amount of fake hair you want from the pack (you have to do it kinda fast or the hair will get tangly and that's not awesome) After parting the amount of hair you want for a certain braid, take that section of Marley hair you previously took out and pull it in two. Combine your hair and the other hair into 3 sections and braid for a few links. Then once the hair has been attached, part the rest of the hair in two then twist. Check youtube for more methods

Linda asks…
How do I get my hair to grow longer over the summer?
Should I keep my kinky twist in and take vitamins all summer until my hair grows a little longer. Or should I take vitamins and wear a natural hair style and get my ends cut to give my hair time to grow?

Steve answers:
I think kinky twist are a type of protective styling but I'm not sure. For the best hair growth results then I'd look into a low manipulation regimen and protective styling. Vitamins like Biotin should help you grow your hair also. Hair grows from the root- not the end of the hair shaft so cutting it won't make your hair grow any.
Rustic Beauty is has BEAUTIFUL head of natural hair. I think she follows a low manipulation regimen. Basically she puts it in a style like 2 strand twist and leaves it alone except for moisturizing it. Just make sure that your ends aren't rubbing against your shoulder or clothing a lot by keeping them up. Great video for you in the source box that should answer your question more.

David asks…
Kinky twist are loose again... what to do?
How can we put an end to that?

Steve answers:
She may not have the right hair for kinky twists (weave or natural)... Touch up everything (re-twist) and have hot water in a pot, pan, or mug and take 3 twists each and dip them for no more than 15-20 seconds. You should know what to do next. Good luck.

Robert asks…

Do anyone in Jackson TN know how to do this?
I am trying to get some kinky twists but i don't know who knows how to do them. If you know how to do them please tell me how much you cost and where you do them.

Steve answers:
You may want to try visiting sites like http://www.treasuredlocks.com, which has a natural hair salon directory: http://www.treasuredlocks.com/salons.html. Or http://www.blackhairplanet.com, which has a black hair salons directory: http://www.blackhairplanet.com/salons/. I'd also recommend asking or searching on http://www.curlynikki.com, http://www.naturallycurly.com, http://www.nappturality.com, http://www.blackhairmedia.com and http://www.longhaircareforum.com.
Also, try http://www.craigslist.com or asking at local beauty supply stores.
Hope this helps!

Mary asks…
Does water make your skin lighter and how to get my hair longer?
how can i make my hair longer? and how much does kinky twists usually cost?

Steve answers:
By making it longer, you have to get a trim first to cut off all the split ends and the damaged pieces of hair. And what makes your hair longer is a vitamin called BIOTIN. I take it and it helps.. The purpose of biotin is to make your hair, skin, and nails healthy. And another thing that I use that helps my hair grow is MANE AND TAIL horse shampoo and conditioner...I know that sounds weird but humans can use it as well as horses haha...
Sorry idk what kinky twists are

I tried doing it with the curling irons but that kinda worked but it didnt. So I really want to know a easier way to do it. So can someone please help me

Steve answers:
First I'll say to be careful when doing kinky twists. I've heard alot about them pulling people's hair out because of the kind of hair that's normally used. Take a look at this website that has the kind of hair that should be used when doing kinky twists.
There are two ways to curl kinky twists.
1. Using rod rollers and dipping them in hot water after you've rolled up the hair.
2. I believe the style is called african twists where you use a piece of yarn and wrap it around the hair then pull the hair taut to create a corkscrew curl.
I'm not that good at the corkscrew curl and i'm still looking for some website or something to show me how to do it. Maybe try an african hairbraiding salon and watch them as they braid someone else's hair.
But I'll keep you posted of what I find about the corkscrew curl, but that other one definately works too and it's easier.
