Does anyone have proven batting practice techniques at the kid pitch level?
I am coaching my daughters 9-10 yr old softball team. This is the first level that the girls pitch. Some will be in their second year but many will be hitting off each other for the first time. I coached this level last year and batting cages seemed almost pointless because of the inconsistency of the pitching. I thought of just having the girls pitch for batting practice but can see long, boring gaps of non-action with that approach.
Does anyone have any tried and proven methods that would address this?
Thanks!

Well, the old tried-and-true method of practicing pitching the ball through the hole of a tire swing still works!
It really does work in setting up the strike zone. If they hit the tire or miss the tire they are outside of the strike zone. Anything through the hole is a strike.
I betcha all the girls want to throw that ball through the hole. Great eye-hand coordination, too.
Have fun!
