I THINK U CAN'T JUDGE ANYBODY FOR ONLY TWO MATCHES.
HE HAS DONE A REMARKABLE JOB FOR LAST TWO YRS BY LEADING HIS TEAM FROM THE FRONT IN BATTING.
HE IS NOW 1ST IN ODI RANKING. ITS NOT THAT EASY TO GET NO.1 SPOT IN ICC BATSMAN RANKING.
HE MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING SPECIAL THATS WHY HE WAS CREDITED FOR NO.1 SPOT IN BATSMAN ODI RANKING.
PLZ BE PATIENT FOR A SUITABLE AMOUNT OF TIME BEFORE U CRITICIZE ANYBODY.
IF HE WILL FAILED IN ODI SERIES AND TEST SERIES. THEN I WILL CERTAINLY AGREE WITH U. BUT FOR THAT U HAVE TO WAIT AND WATCH.
so you agree indirectly ICC ODI rating is wrong for putting him on the top ~
and i think SL has never won a test outrside sub-continent just because of poor batting technique of whole SL team ~

First part of question can be answered with "not much chop".
The second part of your question can be answered with "too much chop"
I'd say
Dhoni is the captain and wicket keeper. They are his major points as a player. Any runs he scores are an extra. The same as Gilchrist and now Haddin. Their primary role is that of 'keeper.

You can't criticize Dhoni after just 2 T20 matches! His primary format of the game is ODI cricket in which he is a very good player. If he fails continously in this tour, then only can he be criticized. Right now, you're being too harsh.
He is a little edgy.. looks like a wee bit wary of the moving ball. He'd bat higher up, and once settled can go for the shots in the end overs.
Technique? there is no fixed technique for anything: what matters is the no of runs he scores: according to ICC he is the No 1 batsman, and the tag is given to him for the runs he scored, not for the technique. There are many that are not thrilled with Murali's technique, but that doesn't take away anything from his records.
Now a days the most talked about matter in the cricket section is Dhoni and India: that's good!

Nalaka his luck is running out. Look back to one of your previous questions and I said that his luck will run out. Indians are not talented they are just bloody lucky.
i thk dhoni's performance is not appreciable bcoz he is basically a team member of indian cricket so he has to do well his section like batting and wicket keeping first and additionally he has to manage the team. so often he cant blame the teams batting performance instead he should do well in batting and keeping and then only he can comment on teams performance.....i have seen his batting its not at all good or orthodoxed and also his wicket keeping....he has to prove himself aggressively again to retain his position otherwise sehwag wil be given the captaincy.......thank u

He's like all of the Indian players - selfish. He's only batting for himself, not the team. Look at the past great Australian era. Every single one of those players had the ability to adapt to certain game situations. The Indians don't have this capability because they have their heads shoved so far where the sun don't shine to realise whats best for the team. This is the only thing keeping them from world domination (and the odd case of mutated mad cow disease). If they learned to play as a team they mightn't be the laughing stock of the cricketing world.
Other than a couple of Srilankan batsmen, Most of the Srilankan batsmen are always out of form, which includes the skipper Jayawardene, till this test series in Pakistan, so why don't you worry about your team??!!
Hey,, am sure you will never forget that Dhoni and his team, trashed the poor Srilankans 4-1 and then T-20, so who cares about Dhoni's batting in the last 2 matches,>>>>>LOL
